Safety & Moderation

LUVENUE DOES NOT CONDUCT CRIMINAL BACKGROUND SCREENINGS ON ITS MEMBERS.

ONLINE DATING SAFETY AWARENESS

Anyone who is able to commit identity theft can also falsify a dating profile. There is no substitute for acting with caution when communicating with any stranger who wants to meet you. Never include your last name, email address, home address, phone number, place of work, or any other identifying information in your profile or in early messages. Stop communicating with anyone who pressures you for personal or financial information.

PROTECTING YOURSELF FROM SEXUAL ASSAULT AND DATING VIOLENCE

Engaging in sexual conduct without the other person’s consent is a criminal act and subject to prosecution. If you choose to meet someone in person: tell a friend or family member where you are going and when you will return; do not let anyone pick you up at your home; provide your own transportation; and meet in a public place. Block and report any member whose behavior is suspicious, offensive, harassing, threatening, or fraudulent — you can do this from any profile or conversation. If you are in danger, call 911. Support resources: National Sexual Assault Hotline 1-800-656-4673; National Domestic Violence Hotline 1-800-799-7233.

PROTECTING YOURSELF FROM FINANCIAL CRIMES

Never send money or share financial information with another member, no matter the story. Report any member who asks. Learn more about romance scams at consumer.ftc.gov.
